Anna with magic red hair - m4w - 30 (King soopers)
age : 30
See, I have had this feeling before, like when I knew I was going to win the drawing for ski goggles at the warren miller ski film at Lincoln Center, or when I won a dance off musical chairs at the elks lodge on New Year's Eve. I get this feeling too when I'm shooting baskets, and I "know" it's going in before I even shoot the ball.
Anyway, I have seen you in the store several times before. Last time I saw you, must have been September, I complemented you on your beautiful long red hair. Call me trite, but it was the brightest thing I could come up with at the moment, and saying, "I want to see your soul" seemed a little too forward!
Fast forward to tonight. I dropped off my 12 yo son to get a folder he needed for school, and then I went to get gas. This entire time I'm thinking about you, even though we had never met. I finished filling up, and parked to go into the store to meet my son. The whole time I'm wondering if this will happen or not. We got in line, and I looked up....and saw you. You were checking out, and the cashier in the lane next to yours broke my trance and insisted I come to his lane. I saw you finish up and start to walk out. But I only had one item and thought I could catch you.
As we finished, my son and I walked out to the car. I saw you walking to your car and felt our moment slipping away, our future children disappearing....
I finally decided to make a break for it. I asked my son to get into the car, and said that I saw a friend I needed to talk to. I ran over, but you were already backing out of your spot.
I ran up next to your car, and beckoned you to pull back in. You seemed surprised but complied. You rolled down your window and I gave a light speed rendition of this story, and introduced myself. You took my hand and said "Anna" with a beautiful, perplexed, shaken smile. I said something about seeing you around next time...
When I got back to my car my son asked, "Who is your friend?" With a smile I said "Anna".
Well, if you get a chance to make contact with before the fates have to intercede, by all means, I want to hear your story. Who are you? What do you live for? What makes you happy? And I want to tell you more stories, and make you laugh. Because when we shook hands, Anna, I just knew we had to meet again.
Until then, know that you are my favorite thing about shopping at King Soopers (besides stacking pennies in the horse for kids to ride, or the smell of the corn when it's in season). I've already got a lot of junk replies from this amazing story, so please just mention what color your car is, or what your bag, slung over your right shoulder, says on it.
Or maybe, I'll bump into you irl again. Soon, I hope.
