R u a canvassing badass? (Fort Collins)

Community for Sustainable Energy (www.CforSE.org) is a Fort Collins based grassroots organization promoting sustainable energy practices within Fort Collins and throughout Colorado. We are looking for one more baller canvasser to help with our campaigns to reduce dependency on coal by promoting energy efficiency programs and renewable energy generation.

The Problem

Generating electricity by burning coal is extremely damaging to the environment. The mining of coal destroys local landscapes and pollutes waterways. Burning coal creates greenhouse gasses and toxic air pollution. Waste from coal plants is massive in quantity and toxicity. You probably knew this. Did you know that coal is becoming prohibitively expensive? Coal supplies are limited. The Powder River Basin contains 40% of the nations coal reserves and has about a 20 year economically recoverable supply. That means that coal will be increasingly more difficult and expensive to mine. Demand from China, India, and other industrializing nations is growing while supply is shrinking. And the Federal government is going to regulate carbon emissions in a way that will dramatically raise the price of coal.

The Solution

That's the bad news. The good news is that we can cut our coal use in half by maximizing the energy efficiency of our buildings and we can generate the rest of our electricity needs through clean renewable resources.

The Strategy

Awareness - The public needs to know about these problems and what to do to address them.

Availability - Efficiency and renewable energy need to be convenient and affordable.

Action - Citizens need to push decision makers to implement the solutions NOW!

As a canvasser with CSE you will be knocking on doors raising public awareness of the problems and solutions. You will be organizing the public voice to demand that our utilities make the solutions available. And you will be stimulating action by inspiring people to take the steps necessary to create the change we need.

TASC Case Manager Co-Occurring (Greeley, CO)

Peer Assistance Services is pleased to announce the opening for a TASC Case Manager in our Greeley Office. The mission of our organization is we are dedicated to quality, accessible prevention and intervention services in workplaces and communities, focusing on substance abuse and related issues.

TREATMENT ACCOUNTABILITY FOR SAFER COMMUNITIES PROGRAMS Four regional programs comprise the Colorado TASC system, which provided assessment, referral, case management, monitoring and reporting for more than 6,100 parolees with substance use disorders last year. A current participant in the program summarizes why TASC is so vital to the successful reentry of parolees, as well as integrating them into the community, "My TASC case manager is always there for me when I need support in any way. Instead of going back to prison for relapse, TASC was able to get me into an inpatient treatment program, giving me the opportunity to get back on the right track to stay sober. I have been able to stay out of prison and clean for 9 months with the help of TASC."

Colorado TASC continues to maintain an integrated web-based data collection system, connecting all offices statewide, enhancing consistency and accuracy of services and reporting in ten offices around the state.
