Hi - I'm looking to start a new gig, offering Guitar Lessons to Adults who have always wanted to learn how to , but never did. I can help you get started. I've been playing many years, have never given a lesson, I'm far from a virtuoso, but would like a chance to offer my experience to get you started.
I think a one on one lesson works best. I would ask a few things if you're interested.
1. You have to have a guitar. You have to give yourself a chance to practice, but more importantly strumming a guitar at the end of the day, even for a few minutes is relaxing.
2. Tell me a song that you'd like to learn. I think the best way to learn is to start is with a simple song that you would like to play, and maybe sing. If it's Stairway to Heaven, I'm not your guy, and probably not the best way to start. If you want to learn some Eagles, Beatles, Country, Rock, Christian Music, I can help you to learn progressively from simple songs to where you will become better than me.
3. You need to work through the pain of pushing strings down with the tips of your fingers on steel strings, of various gauges. This part SUCKS for people who are just starting. People quit too early, there is a light at the end of the tunnel ....... CALLUSES!! You are cheating yourself if you don't allow the tips of your fingers grow calluses, there is no pain once these develop. 2 to 4 weeks of consistent daily practice (around 15–30 minutes) is what you are looking at.
In the beginning I had these issues. I tried to start with a nylon string guitar. They are great and I can show you how to play on this guitar, but it is a wider neck than a steel string. In the beginning it will be more difficult to make chord shapes with a nylon string guitar.
I will offer a half hour lesson free in my home studio for anyone interested. If I drive to you I'd ask for gas money. If you think you'd like to move forward we can work out a charge. I'm not here to make tons of money, but anything helps.
I'm a 64 year old man. I write and record my original music in my home studio. I can help you record demos, maybe record a song as a gift for a loved one.
I live down the street from the Reservoir, off 23rd Ave, in Greeley.
Let me know if I can answer any questions, or if you're ready to start.
