Details about the course:
* Requires a 92% verbal fluency in English and at least 1 other language. We will help you determine of you have to pay for a test to measure your fluency. If you do, it is an additional fee: usually about $100. Not all students need to: it depends on your education background and where. We will review this with you.
*This online course has an optional final day with an onsite exam at a local Denver hotel. We can offer the course to anyone in the US and the exam can be done by an outside online exam proctoring service at not extra charge.
The on-site program includes social distancing and strict COVID precautions.
*Includes the main textbook, mental health glossary, common medicines book, exam and a signed certificate with folding soft frame.
*Scholarships are possible for Interpreters available to work for languages or areas of high need.
* North and South Denver hotel location with room discounts to stay overnight, if needed.
* The BTG/64hour Course: This course includes Behavioral Health Interpreting and sections on Cultural Competency, Ethics, more. It is the Best Practices, Gold Standard in Medical Interpreting. This offers a great prep for the national medical interpreter exam that will be required January 1. 2022 in order to serve any Worker’s Compensation case in the state of Colorado, now so far. We expect other states to start to require National Certification in the future as the new Best Practices standard.
Regardless, as an Independent Contractor: you can set your fee and ask more as a more exceptionally trained professional. Interpreters trained by 1 World Translation Education Center are quickly accepted.

Our program for the 64 hour classes January to October 2021:
June: 2 evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-9:30 Saturdays from 9-5:30.
A: A. April: 27, 29 May 1, 4, 6, 8, 11,13,15, 18, 20, 22 and 24
All Weekday classes 6-10p, Saturdays 9-4pm, or as noted
B: Finally, in June we will teach the 40 hour BTG course:
Starting June 15 on T/H Evenings 6-10 pm and Saturday days 9-5:30. June 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29 and 30.
We have courses continuing throughout the year: has all the dates.
Or call: no pressure.

**The 40 hr course: does go by very quickly with less time for questions and interactive exercises. This course is recommended more for Interpreters already working in the field, with experience, who may be looking for a medical certificate. Or for people who already have medical backgrounds and knowledge of anatomy/physiology. There is less time spent on Ethics and less emphasis on Culture, Health Disparities and the finer nuances and points and challenges of medical interpreting. Mental health, substance abuse and recovery interpreting is not explored.

In summary: The 64 hour course is the one to attend if the Interpreter wants to ensure taking and passing a national exam like the NBCMI or CCHI exam in order to serve the largest population of LEP clients services in CO: the Injured Worker for Workers' Compensation claims; a large piece of the pie of Limited English Proficient clients we serve in Colorado. Required 1/1/2022.

It is also the course to take should the interpreter want to be qualified and eligible to serve clients in the mental or behavioral health settings. For only a little more than $200 and 3 more days: it is a worthy investment as long as one is making a lifetime career choice towards success. They are both great courses, content rich.

We look forward to hearing from you!
