5-6 yr old miniature mare was told she was broke when I got her, but never was able to fully test that. I did lead my kid around on her fine. But she has been out in pasture for a couple years now, and has gotten some typical naughty pony habits and will need refreshed on manners and more training.
I would do it myself, but unfortunately due to some recent health changes and time constraints, I am not going to be able to for quite a while. Would like to see her get the attention she deserves than just continue hanging out in pasture.
She is friendly and will come up for pets and especially treats. She can be a bit to catch in a big space and if she sees a halter 😅. Leads fine, loaded fine.
When she had a baby she had quite a protective attitude. She wasn’t afraid to kick at you or bite you, but has not done those since. She fights back when trying to pick up her feet (rearing/backing/pulling away), so needs work there.
Haven’t had any soundness problems with her and she has never foundered. She does get chunky out on the pasture, as most minis. But she is brought in to a dry lot/pen for a bit before it causes any problems.
