make / manufacturer: Ludwig
model name / number: Standard
Ludwig early 70's vintage Blue Mist "Standard" 4-piece drum set. 14 by 20, 8 by 12, 14 by 14 and 5 by 14 Chrome over aluminum shell snare. The Ludwig Standard line used the same shells as Ludwig's classic series with lighter hardware. Ludwig Standards are preferred by some top touring/session drummers, including Fred Eltringham, who has been Sheryl Crow's drummer for several years. The Blue Mist finish has yellowed to a nice aquamarine color. The chrome plated aluminum shell snare is harder to find than the satin finish model and sounds a little brighter - very much like an 8-lug Supraphonic. There is some finish wear on the backside of the floor tom where a previous owner did some sanding on the shell for unknown reasons. Shell interiors have the same Granitone finish that Ludwig used on all of their wood drums from this era. The wrap seams are tight and the drums look and sound great. This is the perfect lightweight kit for smaller gigs or rehearsals. No hardware included, other than bass drum spurs and floor tom legs (the snare stands pictured are for display only). It's been my personal rehearsal kit for the last two years and everyone that hears them loves them!
