This beautiful 3/4 upright bass, made in 2015 by Pietro Christiani for Robertson and Sons instrument shop, has a gorgeous sound. As the bass was made so recently, it is nearly brand new, with several good years of playing that took me through college at times sitting as principal and assistant principal at Colorado State University. It would easily be excellent enough to use for playing in professional symphony orchestras.
As can be seen from the pictures, this bass's narrow shoulders makes it a breeze playing in thumb position all the way up through playing off the end of the fingerboard. In addition, the bass features an extended fingerboard whose curve maps to the upper harmonics, making it easier to nail them. It has also been planed to allow the E-string to vibrate freely when playing forte. Furthermore, the bridge is adjustable. Used Belcanto strings are currently on the bass, which give it a vibrant high end and a meaty low end.
As for the markings on the bass that are seen in the pictures, they were purposefully set into the bass by the maker, Pietro Christiani. Other than a few very minor dings, this bass is nearly perfect. Though the pictures are well done, they cannot describe the true physical beauty of this bass. Beyond that, pictures cannot begin to explain how powerful and graceful this bass is when bow is placed to string.
This listing is for the upright bass and a bundle of items. Included are a nearly brand new Mooradian case, a Mooradian bow sleeve, an Onyx wheel with the proper shank size for this bass, a bass player's stool from K&M, and an Ingles upright bass stand and bow holder.
