Brand new, still in the box. If you don't know what this is, it likely isn't for you as it's meant for advanced users of Home Automation solutions. It's not a beginner device and requires additional devices and knowledge of how to properly deploy. There's lots of online resources but I'm not offering any technical support so please research to make sure this is the right device for you before messaging. These typically sell for almost $40 after tax/shipping (see image) but you can get it today w/o waiting for shipping and save a few bucks in the process. I bought it for an install but ended up not needing it. My loss is your gain. Price is firm and I'm not interested in any offers or trades.
This device is for those with a home automation system or are in the process of building a home automation system and need the Z-Wave radio to communicate with Z-Wave protocol devices. Great if you have or are installing a Home Assistant instance and want to add the ability to connect devices via Z-Wave. Z-Wave is great because it's secure and operates at a frequency far away from the 2.4Ghz band which is what most Wifi and other devices use for wireless communication. This allows for far less interference and better range along with many other advantages.
I've had a smart home automation system in place for a couple of decades now and Z-Wave is by far my favorite protocol for that purpose. Zigbee is another popular option but you'll be better off w/Z-Wave if you don't know the difference. Stay away from devices that use WiFi for your smart home setup as that doesn't scale well and will likely introduce performance issues across lots of wireless devices that share the same frequency. If you're adding something like this though you likely have the ability to add both so no need to choose between the two protocols. If you're new to all of this Z-Wave is a great place to start though.
FROM THE MANUFACTURER:
• READ BEFORE YOU BUY: The Z-Wave stick is for advanced users only, NOT for beginners. You must be comfortable with programming and have expert computer and Z-Wave knowledge to use this device. NVM back-up from 500 or 700 series Z-Wave sticks will brick the device. Do NOT apply NVM backups or firmware updates published outside of the Zooz support portal to avoid bricking the stick and voiding its warranty.
• NEW 800 SERIES Z-WAVE LONG RANGE: Take advantage of the latest wireless innovation with Z-Wave Long Range that extends your network coverage up to a mile. NOTE: Your home automation software needs to support the Long Range implementation on the interface side as well as the end Z-Wave device you add to the network for the Long Range functionality to be fully unlocked.
• WHAT YOU NEED: This 800 Series Long Range Stick adds Z-Wave Plus and Z-Wave Long Range capability to your DIY smart home set-up. You'll need a dedicated computer (PC, laptop, or Raspberry Pi, sold separately) and home automation software of your choice (not included) to complete the system.
• ADVANCED Z-WAVE: Works great with the most popular software like Home Assistant (with JS) and HomeSeer. Supports OTA firmware updates and and all of the latest Z-Wave library commands.
